what i did this summer!

This summer I had lots of fun days out. I went on lots of trips with my boyfriend, we went bowling in bury, Heaton park in Manchester, a tribute band festival called Feswitch and a day out shopping in Affleck’s palace in Manchester. me and my friend nix went to lots of my boyfriends gigs, since he’s in a band called dusk! they play grunge, rock and punk sort of songs even having lots of originals. also, this summer I binge watched the entirety of futurama and the original seasons of Emmerdale with my nanna most nights.

my gaming history!!!!

Series review

recently, I rewatched the walking dead. I really enjoy the plot of a man unknowingly waking up to a zombie apocalypse, it allows the audience to experience everything just as the main character, Rick Grimes, does and helps us follow along through the whole series itself. it has many major plot twists consistently surprising the audience, bringing real emotion. The series is bingeable, alluring the audience into constantly wanting more and shows the predicted adaptation of human society if something as tragic as a zombie apocalypse was to hit. the gradual build up over the series of a much enlarged group of people from the first series and even rivalries for resources depicts the ability of almost animalistic adaptations humans can achieve when needed for survival.

Audience

my favourite game is Overwatch 2.

its fun to play and keeps you drawn to the entire match due to how much is constantly happening throughout each match. I like how you have different modes you can play. I really like the character designs and the animations and I think the background dialogue throughout each match is really amusing.

although I did prefer the original Overwatch, I still enjoy Overwatch 2.

Overwatch is a first person shooter. another example of a first person shooter is call of duty.

to change the genre of overwatch you could expand and create an even more complex lore for the characters, furthering the role play aspect to where your wins or performance within matches develops the characters storyline and actions

photoshop

in photoshop i used different parts of characters and musicians i really like to make something odd. i used factors to show the different things i like, for example there is the torso of Daryl Dixon from the walking dead tv series, the head of the lead singer of my favourite band thom yorke, a hat from an elf character in the tv series disenchantment and then the legs of rick sanchez from rick and morty

Escape room reflection

we did a pirate escape room card game.

i didn’t enjoy being put into a group, the group was already familiar with each other so i struggled to talk or add input within the game. the people in my group were really nice and worked well with good ideas but was very disinterested in the game creating a little bit of a dull mood which was definitely reciprocated between everybody. solving the puzzles was really difficult and required a lot of attention given to the cards which nobody really put into it. we used lots of clues which took away the fun a little bit and we couldn’t make sense of any of clues really. I struggled to read the fonts on the game which made it a bit trickier and the two dominant players were just solving it between themselves. the game itself was a really fun concept and I would like to play again with the precision and focus it needs with a group of people I know I could work confidently with. I appreciated the opportunity to meet new people in my class since I hadn’t spoken to any of those people before the activity. working with people I don’t know was difficult because I often find it difficult to make conversation with new people, but i think the experience was a really good move in getting to know/ talk to some people ill be spending the next two years with. if i could do anything differently i would have put more energy into the game and worked better with the group rather than sitting quietly.

Courtyard poster!

I made a poster to promote the courtyard in our college. i used photoshop, adding lots of photos of the desired area to show the benefits and make it look appealing.

MDA Analysis

MDA stands for mechanics, dynamics and aesthetics. These are the things that make a game feel special and dictate the genre of said game. Mechanics refer to the rules, controls and systems of a game and the way it functions, also defining the ways that the player can interact with it. Dynamics are the level of interactivity the player has over their actions in game, and aesthetics is the emotions that the game evokes from the player which could be through the soundtrack or visuals for example.

perspective, observational and gesture drawing

this is my attempt at two point perspective: it was tricky to grasp at first but became a lot easier with practice as I just used the base shapes evident in the lines given. using two point perspective allows us to add lots of dimension and depth to a piece of art we may be creating. such as buildings, looking at them from an angle where its not straight on.

gesture drawing

this was my attempt at five gesture drawings in five minutes. gesture drawing is lose and flowy shapes used to gather a basic idea of the flow of the human body in the reference you may be copying. it allows for further understanding as of where things are placed and how shadows should fall.

My work on blender!!!
for this task we used reference photos from around the college to do a starting model, after a failed attempt this was my outcome. which i am still not completely happy with but it is a much better version. at first i tried to make the hexagon with individual shapes, like this:

as you can see there is lots of blocky connections and the shape is just very uneven which wasn’t the desired look. after talking to my tutor she advised to use one solid shape and change the amount of vertices on a cylinder to create a hexagon so it was much easier to create the three layers to the bench.
